British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA)
On the 2nd and 3rd September 2017, we hosted the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) to the Scottish Event Campus. The event marked BSAVA’s 60th anniversary in the Scottish region and they enjoyed an 11% increase in delegate numbers and lots of involvement from local ambassadors.
BSAVA aims to promote excellence in small animal practice through education and science. It was founded in 1957 as a professional body to serve veterinary surgeons who treat companion animals, and now has over 10,000 members.
The event saw 320 delegates, 45 exhibitors and 3 streams of lectures across the weekend in the SEC’s Loch Suite and Halls 1&2. A gala dinner was hosted in the neighbouring Argyll Suite – part of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The congress was held in Edinburgh for six years before transferring to Glasgow in 2016. After receiving fantastic delegate feedback, the conference is returning in 2018 and 2019. Delegate numbers went up by 33% in the first year in Glasgow and have continued to rise this year.
BSAVA took advantage of the close City partnerships in Glasgow and worked with Glasgow Convention Bureau, who, along with the SEC, provided the association with marketing support, local information and travel updates to ensure the best possible city experience for delegates.
James Harris, congress sales and marketing co-ordinator, said: “The facilities are first-class and we are very lucky to run the event in such a great venue. What’s more, after our first year the venue has been great at listening to our feedback, and providing cost-effective solutions to make sure our second year is an even bigger success and experience for delegates and exhibitors.”
