Operations Development Manager

 

Comprising of the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and the OVO Hydro, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is Scotland's premier venue for events, gigs, conferences, and exhibitions. We enjoy an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most prestigious venues with the OVO Hydro consistently ranked in the top three busiest venues in the world, attracting over two million visitors per year.

 

We are looking for a motivated and friendly Operations Development Manager to work as part of our Operations Development Team who align with our vision to become the Best Event Campus in Europe.

 

The Operations Development Manager will be responsible to deliver the following.

  • Support the Head of Operations Development to create and implement an improvement strategy and operational plans for the department.
  • Analyse, develop and implement new and develop existing operational business processes and practices across the SEC in line with our objective to be the Best Event Campus in Europe.
  • To work closely with the Head of Operations Development to scope the key improvement developing actionable plans that include timelines, resources, and the outputs to ensure implementation of fit for purpose future solutions.
  • Be responsible for the full life cycle of all operational improvement projects and initiatives. Leading the development of business cases through to final delivery plans and retrospective review in line with the approved delivery model.
  • To be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risk throughout the lifecycle of a project or improvement plan. Identifying and managing the health & safety and regulatory requirements of the project, ensuring monitoring and reporting procedures are in place.
  • Responsible for budget forecasting and then efficient and effective budget management of projects and initiatives.
  • Create and maintain a 3-5-year roadmap for Operations Development projects and initiatives, mapping the growth of the SEC’s operation.
  • Line Manage the Junior Solutions Analyst and as required any future resource deployed to the team.
  • Lead and implement change management initiatives to develop and improve the Operations Department whilst implementing best practices and quality assurance in service delivery.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the wider business team and partners.
  • Adopt the integration of technology and digital processes in the Operations Development Team

The Operations Development Team work closely together in a busy environment, dedicated to delivering excellence and meeting the expectations of the Operations Department whilst providing the highest quality service to each project, initiative or event. Our desirable qualities include:

 

  • Experience of working within a business analysis capacity on project delivery.
  • Project Management qualification.
  • Experience in managing health and safety requirements of projects or events.
  • Experience of working within an event operations environment (desirable but not essential).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and experience of utilising Smartsheet is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
